Its a well known fact that Karaköy is one of the most colorful, busy and beautiful parts of the Istanbul. I read about this beautiful district that it changes it’s personality, it’s style these days. As a person who haven’t seen this new face of Karaköy, I planned a trip to meet our lovely Karaköy again.
When I was wandering in Karaköy, I felt like I’ve been traveling between countries. Kılıç Ali Pasha Mosque, Ottoman and Byzantine atmospheres, synagogues and churches… When you pass them all, suddenly you feel like you discover the European streets… You have to keep your eyes open, to see the beauty of Karaköy since this ountry’s colorless and lifeless atmosphere tries to cover up everything…Regardless still some of us try to scratch the lifeless cover with building new cafes and art galleries.
Art galleries design workshops, chic and elite cafes make Istanbul’s Karaköy more breatthink, more mesmerizing. It may be the oldest part of the Istanbul but it’s also the most developing one for sure.
Nev’s tea, Ragione’s coffee, Karaköy Restaurant and Mahmut Usta’s Ottoman kitchen… I had the change to taste them all lucky me. Bej, Nar, Karabatak, Ma’Na, Ops, Maya Restaurant, Naif Istanbul and Ferah Feza will be the next places on my list.
Shortly, there is no way to describe Karaköy completely by writing or by wandering. But Karaköy will be the most beautiful and the famous part of Istanbul without doubt.
